Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data the journal collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • Account data: name, email, affiliation, country and, if you provide it, ORCID iD and biography.
  • Submission data: your manuscript, co-author details and correspondence with the editorial office.
  • Usage data: aggregate counts of article views and downloads. We do not build profiles of individual readers.

Why we collect it

To operate peer review, to publish and attribute accepted work, to contact you about your submissions, and to report aggregate usage statistics. Author names and affiliations on published articles are part of the scholarly record and are public by necessity.

Who we share it with

Author and article metadata is shared with Crossref for DOI registration and with indexing services that harvest our OAI-PMH endpoint. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share reviewer identities with authors.

Retention

Submission records are retained for ten years, which is the period over which questions about the integrity of a published article most commonly arise. Account data is retained until you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by writing to the editorial office. Note that we cannot remove your name from an already-published article, since that would corrupt the scholarly record; we can, however, publish a name-change notice without disclosing the reason.
