Open access and copyright
Diamond open access
Every article is free to read, download and reuse from the day it is published. Authors pay nothing. There are no submission fees, article processing charges, page charges or colour charges of any kind.
Licensing
Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Anyone may copy, redistribute, adapt and build on the work, including commercially, provided they credit the original.
Copyright
Authors retain copyright in their work. We ask only for a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute and archive the article. You do not sign anything away.
Self-archiving
You may deposit any version of your article — submitted, accepted or published — in any repository, at any time, with no embargo. We recommend depositing the published version, since it carries the DOI and final pagination.
Funder compliance
Publishing here satisfies the open access requirements of Plan S, UKRI, the European Commission, the NIH public access policy and the great majority of other funder mandates. If your funder requires a specific licence or deposit route, tell us at acceptance and we will accommodate it.
Archiving and preservation
Content is preserved in the PKP Preservation Network and deposited with the Internet Archive. Should the journal cease publication, the archive will remain freely available.
